Ovidius Cyber Cloud

Welcome to OCC

The Ovidius Cyber Cloud is a cloud computing infrastructure that has been developed based on the collaboration of several departments of the “Ovidius University” of Constanța for setting up a common infrastructure dedicated to scientific research and education activies.

The infrastructure has been supported by the grant contract no. 252/ 29.05.2020 cofinanced by the European Fund for Regional Development and cofunded by the Romanian Government.

The data center consists of 4 high performance Cisco UCS computing nodes equipped with Nvidia GPUs. The nodes are fulfilling the demand for high computing power in areas such as multi scale engineering, physics, chemistry, meteorology, life sciences, and many others.

Institute for Nanotechnologies
 and Alternative Energy Sources

The Institute for Nanotechnologies and Alternative Energy Sources (INSAE) is operating the Ovidius Cyber Cloud Data Center and assures the assistance for the users of this infrastructure.

INSAE has been established in 2011 based on the decision of the Senate of Ovidius University of Constanta as a scientific research institute under the frame of the University.

The mission of INSAE is to promote High Performance Scientific research activities in the field of Nanotechnologies and Nanosciences that could be applied in different fields and sectors but with an emphasis on sustainable energy, in order to develop innovative products and services with improved performances, a minimal use of resources and a minimal impact on the environment.

The institute is collaborating with faculties and departments of ”Ovidius” University but also it is actively involved in the European Institute of Technology as part of the Knowledge and Innovation Community for the sustainable use of raw materials : EIT-RawMaterials.

At regional level, INSAE is collaborating with several innovation clusters as the MEDGreen Innovation Cluster specialized in Ecotechnologies and Alternative Energy Sources, Danube-Danube Delta-Black Sea Cluster (3D-BS) specialized on Blue Economy, COSMOMAR – Center for Space Technology for Sustainable Development of Costal Areas, DTEClimate – National Competence Center on Adaptation to Climate Change and the Black Sea Universities Network.
